SVdP NOLA recognized as Outstanding Service/Resource Agent

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Archdiocesan Council of New Orleans is humbled to be recognized by VIA LINK’s first annual Marguerite Redwine award luncheon. Fellow faith-based partnering agencies Ozanam Inn and Second Harvest Food Bank will also be honored at the event, which takes place Thursday, June 13th at the Arbor Room/Popp Fountain in City Park.

Award recipients were chosen based on the needs in the community, the ease of working with the staff, feedback from callers about the referrals and information they were provided. The Outreach team of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul takes great pride in working to not only provide resources, but in helping establish results in the process of assistance to citizens during challenging times.

“It’s deeply humbling to be recognized for serving our neighbors in need,” says Outreach Manager, Aristede Collins. “It speaks to our Vincentian calling to show compassion and love to those in the community struggling through hardships.”

The efforts of the organization are not successful without the help of 500 Vincentian volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the area. The collaborative work of the SVdP central office and its Vincentian membership is vital the mission of the

172-year-old human services agency.

Marguerite Redwine served as VIA LINK CEO for 17 years. During her tenure, the 211-dialing code was developed nationally with the FCC, designating 211 as the 3-digit dialing code for information and referrals for health and human services. She led the organization though the disaster and aftermath of hurricane Katrina, providing critical uninterrupted support for its services. Redwine, who retired from VIA LINK in 2014, passed away at the age of 79 in June 2023.

SVdP NOLA is honored to be recognized as part of such a significant legacy in the community.
