Friends of the Poor Walk 2018

Our Annual Friends of the Poor Walk took place on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at two locations:

Southshore -

City Park Reunion Shelter & Festival Grounds
Friedrichs Avenue @ Wisner Boulevard

Northshore -

The one-mile round trip Friends of the Poor Walk was held at the Mandeville Lakefront (across from Pontchartrain Yacht Club).  Three hundred ninety-two (392) walkers participated.  Offline donations NET of expenses were a record $30,125!  Sponsorships were the key to our success, tallying $15,600!   Our online donations were also impressive, coming in at $3,145, with online donations STILL OPEN til November 3, 2018!   This money will go a long way to serve the poor of St. Tammany Washington District.
Of course, we could not have done this without the faithful help of our local Knights of Columbus!  The Knights provided red beans and rice; hot dogs and chili; jambalaya; nachos; ice cream; bottled water and Abita root beer!
The weather was great with a nice breeze along magnificent Lake Ponchartrain.  Everyone had a grand time!"
