SVdP Adult Learning Center’s History
Sr. Lory Schaff started the Adult Learning Center at Saint Vincent de Paul New Orleans on January 17, 2007. With only one student and a
classroom at 2601 Canal Street - a SVdP building - she got to work.
Shortly afterwards, the Center moved to a larger space in the Gentilly neighborhood where the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and Pharmacy were originally located.
In March of 2012, the Center moved back to 2601 Canal Street. This time they were better equipped with the whole building which provided space for an office, a computer room, testing room, classrooms for small group instruction, and a kitchenette. It was great place to continue their mission of Adult Education to those in New Orleans.
In August, 2020, the Center opened at its current site, 3500 Canal St.
